In a few days (on November 11 2011) a decision will be made on the new 7 wonders of nature, and the general public is welcomed to vote on the sites to be considered as those 7 wonders.
Israel’s Biodiversity
500 million birds fly over Israel every year in order to reach warmer countries and by that they enrich the biodiversity of Israel.
First Tu Bishvat Since the Fire
This year, the tree planting in northern Israel for Tu Bishvat was all about rehabilitation of the Carmel after the huge fire in which 44 people died and over 12,000 acres of natural forest burned down.
Israel is one of the only countries that are trying to restore animals to their natural environment. The Hebrew name for a land used for breeding animals in their natural environment is Hai Bar (animals in the wild). Israel has two such areas, one in Mount Carmel and the other near Kibbutz Yotvata.
The City of Ramat Gan
The city of Ramat Gan is the second largest city in Gush Dan after Tel Aviv. It was founded in 1921 as a communal farming settlement, and was declared as a city in 1950. The population of the city is 133,400 as of 2007.
Spreading Wing
Spreading Wing is a unique project that helps save and protect the population of the birds of prey in Israel. Some of them are rare and in a danger of extinction.
Birds of Israel
During the migration seasons Israel is one of the many resting spots for birds.
Hatzav
There are many beautiful flowers in our small country, but the most special one for me is the Hatzav (Urginea maritime or the sea squill).
Saving the Parrot
Three thieves, who planned to steal an extremely expensive parrot (which costs more than 10,000 Shekels!) from a small zoo, were stopped by something very extraordinary – a few little squirrel monkeys saw the thief trying to take the parrot, and started shouting and shrieking at him. The thief, who started panicking because of the sudden noise, dropped the parrot and escaped together with his two friends.
