The Public’s Voice

As part of the Israeli government’s interest is public opinions, it created a portal for the public to respond to governmental issues and vote on state affairs.

The portal includes descriptions of impending government regulations and the public can vote on the matter or make suggestions for it.

Many people in Israel enter the portal every day and participate in the poles and discussions. A government team reads the comments, gives feedback to the people and then sends their conclusions to the government. This gives the public a real voice in the final decisions the government makes.

This way the Israeli citizens are actually involved in the governmental processes and decisions and it makes our democracy even stronger.

Professor Stanley Fischer, the governor of the bank of Israel, had a big day recently, when Euromoney, the world’s most important financial magazine, announced that he (Fischer) is the central bank governor of the year 2010.

Kadima and Labor parties’ negotiators agreed to bring for a vote the proposal to make Labor MK Raleb Majadele a minister before the government, and a few weeks later, the Majadele appointment was voted on at a cabinet meeting. Majadele is now a minister without portfolio, and he will be given a specific portfolio later on.
