Many people dream of doing extreme sports and achieving new records. Nadav Ben Yehuda was one of them.

He wanted to break 2 new records. The first was to climb Mount Everest – the highest mountain in the world. The second was to be the youngest Israeli to do so.

As he was climbing the mountain, Nadav saw a Turkish climber who was in danger. Despite the bad political climate between Israel and Turkey, Nadav decided to stop his journey and to try to save the life of the Turkish person.

“When I saw that this guy’s life was in danger, I realized that I have no option and I must save his life,” Nadav said.

Nadav carried the guy down the mountain and saved his life.

In both countries Nadav was considered as a hero and he is going to receive a presidential medal of honor from President Peres.

This act of bravery shows that it doesn’t matter where you are from or if your countries are in good terms with one another – we are all human beings who want and need to help each other.

We hope that actions like this one will lead to a better relationship between Israel and Turkey.
