An Israeli company called Mobileye had recently developed a system that gives warnings to drivers on the road when they deviate from their lane or approach a car in front of them. The system includes a camera and a digital screen that transmits warnings to the driver.
The Mobileye Company plans to sell the system to Israel – about 20,000 units here and about 100,000 units around the world.
The company will begin providing the system to the leasing fleets of Avis, Shlomo Sixt, Alber, Hertz, etc. In Israel the system will be installed in the vehicles of the leasing companies for regular clients and for Israeli hi tech companies that wish to improve their fleet’s safety.
One of the hi tech companies in which the system will be installed is Matrix – an Israeli IT company.
Noam Koom, the Matrix vehicle fleet manager, said: “the driving culture of thousands of workers and their safety is an issue of utmost importance to us.”
After analyzing the reasons for traffic accidents, we concluded that technological solutions are the most effective to increase security and reduce accidents.
The Mobileye system helps to reduce accidents in cases of short distance or deviation from the path, which according to researches is causing about 60% of all traffic accidents.
Unfortunately, at present the price is high and not many people can afford to buy this smart system, but 10 years from now every car in the world will include Mobileye’s device.”
