The 2006 Lebanon War, also known as the Second Lebanon War, lasted 34 days. I would like to share with you my personal experience of this terrible war.

It all started when the Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers. The IDF tried to get them back but several soldiers have died during another attack by the Hezbollah and when the IDF decided to attack in a more aggressive way the Hezbollah opened a huge missile attack on the northern part of Israel.

My fear of the war started when the first Katyusha missile hit Stela-Maris in Haifa. That place is really close to my city. After a few days two more missiles hit Kiriat Bialik (my home town). One of them hit Givat Harakafot, and the second one, hit a spot just a few blocks away from my house…

The sirens and the booming noises we heard were so stressful and scary…

It’s really horrific to live with constant fear of a missile hitting you at any moment. You never know when and where it’s going to hit…

We also heard the news about all of the people and the soldiers that were killed or injured in the war, and Nasrallah threatened that he will not stop launching rockets at us…it was a really bad situation for everyone…

A total of 4228 missiles were launched from southern Lebanon towards Israel and reached even the city of Hadera, which is not really considered a northern city. 119 IDF soldiers were killed, 1244 were wounded, 2 were captured, 43 Israeli civilians were killed and 1384 were wounded.

The IDF’s attempt to retrieve the soldiers failed and the war forced 1 million Lebanese citizens and 500,000 Israelis to leave their homes.
