Maccabi Tel Aviv is a basketball team from Israel. It was established in 1932, as a part of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Sport Club.
Maccabi is now one of the best basketball teams in Europe, and it gained many achievements around the world. Maccabi Tel Aviv’s first achievement was in 1945 in winning the state’s championship against a local Tel Aviv team. In the 50′s Maccabi won 5 Israeli championships and gained 3 state cups.
In 1967 Maccabi managed to qualify to the Europe Cup finals for the first time. In general the team won 6 Israeli championships and 6 state cups during the 60′s.
In the 70′s Maccabi won 10 Israeli championships, 8 state cups and the best achievement of all was winning the Europe Cup.
In 1977 Maccabi played against an Italian basketball team, Vareze, which in the past won twice against Maccabi, but then lost to Maccabi by one point in the finals.
Over the years Maccabi continued winning and gained many achievements. Until now Maccabi Tel Aviv won 49 championships, 38 state cups and 5 Europe cups.
On February 16 2012 Maccabi played against Maccabi Rishon Lezion in the state cup finals and won 82:69 and gained another achievement to its “collection.”
