A few months ago, the New7Wonders organization presented the 7 wonders of the world. Even though Israel’s representative – The Dead Sea – did not end up being one of the seven winners, it made our country proud, since it reached a very high ranking.

Then, the New7Wonders had launched another list of best seven locations – this time focusing on cities. Although the 7 finalists will be declared only in 2 years – on December 2013 – seven Israeli cities are already part of the list, which had 1,200 cities from all over the world.

The Israeli cities that are candidates are: Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Haifa, Tiberius, Nazareth and our eternal capital, Jerusalem. Let’s hope that at least one will win! I personally think that Jerusalem will surely enter the final list.

Some of Israel’s cities date back to the days of the bible and have a very long and unusually fascinating history. There are also six Palestinian cities that made the list: Gaza, Jericho, Ramallah, Jenin, Hebron and Bethlehem.
