Maybe 2012 had only just started, but we already have a champion in the Israeli high school league! It’s the Hayovel Herzliya basketball team that won against Emek HaHula high school at the finals 78:41.
1500 fans of both teams came to the finals game in Malcha stadium in Jerusalem. The fans cheered and sang throughout the game, although the game was one-sided from the beginning.
Both coaches glorified the opponent team after the game. The winning coach, Roni Kahan, said after the game: “Emek HaHula has huge team spirit and an amazing coach. We respect them. We were ready for this game; I salute my players and all the staff.”
The losing coach, Ziv Bartena, said: “Congratulations to Herzliya and to Roni. They are an amazing defensive team. They had a great season and they should enjoy this moment. I am proud of my guys. I don’t know how they succeeded in getting to this level despite all our problems.”
