President Peres spoke with Turkish President Gul, who declined the Israeli offer. Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Yigal Palmor said Israel was willing to provide “anything from food, medicine, medical staff and equipment to search-and-rescue teams.”
Israel Offers Help to Turkey
A powerful earthquake had hit east Turkey this week, near the border with Iran. Thousands already died and security forces are in a race against time to save the people who are trapped under the rubble. The quake also caused massive damages to buildings and structures and brought down the phone network.
