I want to tell you about my friend, Ben H.

On the one hand, he is the same as his other friends: sports, hanging out and playing guitar and piano. But on the other hand, he sacrifices most of his time in order to help children with PDD as well as participating in many other volunteering activities.

Ben started to volunteer at the age of 9. When he was studying in the third grade a class of children with communication disabilities had joined his school.

The teacher asked for children who could help them acclimatize to their new lives in school and Ben immediately volunteered. Since then he takes part in many volunteering activities, such as food distributing to old people and the “friendship circle” – a project that was brought to Israel from the USA, which involves helping disabled children.

Moreover, he is the chairperson of the Youth organization Tzameret, which is based on four main values – Zionism, leadership, friendship and contribution.

In an interview for the local paper Ben was asked to explain what gave him the push to start volunteering and he answered: “I’m a regular boy, with the same hobbies like every other teenager, but I try to help others because it feels good to see grateful people that you’ve helped.”
