The city of Ramat Gan is the second largest city in Gush Dan after Tel Aviv. It was founded in 1921 as a communal farming settlement, and was declared as a city in 1950. The population of the city is 133,400 as of 2007.
The city is known for having the largest diamond-exchange and the tallest building (Moshe Aviv Tower). The city also has a huge National Park and a popular Safari.
The city has a high socioeconomic ranking standing at 8 out of 10 as of 2001, and has lots of cultural centers, such as the Ramat Gan Theatre, the Ayalon Mall (the first mall in Israel), the Ramat Gan Stadium and more.
