Many Israeli rock bands have lately hit fame in the US and Europe. Rockfour is one of those bands.
Rockfour is a group of 4 friends from the city of Holon in Israel.
Rockfour was formed in 1988 when Baruch Ben Yitzhak (vocals) and Eli Lulai joined Amir Tzoref (guitar) and Issar Tennenbaum (drums, vocals). At first they played just for fun, but later when they met their agent Dani Recht, they began getting serious.
Their first album Butterfly Net truly represented the band’s musical style.
After their first album, Rockfour went through lots of changes.
Eli Lulai, the leader, and Amir Tzoref had left, but Marc Lazare (bass and vocals) had joined the band. These changes left a mark on their musical style (becoming less main stream and more sixties) and their appearance became more psychedelic.
After a few years, Rockfour began combining Beatles and Pink Floyd covers into their original Israeli pieces. This was in an attempt to facilitate their way into the US and UK markets.
Their breakthrough occurred in 2007 at a Pink Floyd first single contest where they won first place and earned lots of admiration and acknowledgments from the cheering crowd.
Rockfour is currently at a tour in the US. Their current album Memories of the Never Happened is entirely in English and it looks like they are heading towards a bright future.
