We all know that the drug use and homelessness problems exist in every country, and some of those hit hardest by them are the women who live in the streets.

But in Israel there are people who care about them. “The Door of Hope” is an organization founded by volunteers. At first all of the organization members worked as volunteers, asking people to donate old clothes and other things that they didn’t want.

They walked through the streets, looking for people who needed help, talking to them and inviting them to their center, which was only a small flat. In time, more people heard about their activity and started to help them financially. They moved to a bigger flat and helped more people.

Today the organization is much bigger. They have a large underground help center in the central bus station area of Tel Aviv. It contains many people. Now it even helps the refugees from Sudan.

The way they help the refugees is by providing them a place to meet. There are many things that they are planning, like opening a women’s shelter for the refugees, and trying to get Hebrew teachers for them.

Every Friday night some of the refugees go out and help them feed the homeless people and so they are also a part of the volunteering force.
